TOUR PROGRAM:
After breakfast, we depart from your hotel in Yerevan with our professional guide and driver.
Our first stop is Lake Sevan, often referred to as the “Jewel of Armenia” and also known as the “Geghama Sea.” Situated at approximately 1,900 meters above sea level, Lake Sevan is one of the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in the world. Guests will have free time here to enjoy the panoramic lake views.
We then proceed to Sevanavank Monastery, built of black tuff stone and therefore sometimes called the “Black Monastery.” The complex consists of the Surb Arakelots and Surb Karapet churches and is surrounded by numerous khachkars (Armenian cross-stones). Today, these two dark stone churches stand like guardians overlooking Lake Sevan, offering spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
The tour continues to Dilijan, one of Armenia’s most popular tourist regions, renowned for its dense forests and fresh mountain air. Here, we visit two remarkable monastic complexes.
First, we explore Goshavank Monastery, which functioned in the Middle Ages as a major educational center with an extensive library. It is one of the best places to observe exquisite examples of Armenian khachkar stone craftsmanship.
We then visit Haghartsin Monastery, constructed between the 10th and 13th centuries over nearly three centuries. The name derives from the Armenian word “Artsiv,” meaning “eagle,” as the region was historically known for eagle flights.
After completing the visits, we return to Yerevan and transfer our guests back to their hotels.
Upon arrival at the hotel, our full-day tour concludes.
