Tour Itinerary

Day 1: From the Black Sea to the Embrace of the Caucasus

With the sunrise, we start this unforgettable adventure at 10:15 with our guests at Hopa Green Garden Kebab. As we proceed along the route, picking up other guests, we reach the beginning of our journey at the Sarp Border Gate, crossing the border between the two countries. Throughout this wonderful tour, you will experience the enchantment of nature and begin to discover the unique beauties of Georgia. As we make our way towards the city center with your guide, you will start exploring this region where history and nature intertwine.

Along the route, after seeing the bust named the Enlightenment Path of Saint Andrew, we proceed towards the Gonio region. Passing through Gonio, we see Gonio (Apsaros) Fortress on our right side. After seeing this fortress, where Saint Matthias, one of the 12 apostles of Jesus, was killed by the locals, we continue our journey through the route lined with eucalyptus trees. Further along the route, on the left side, we see the shooting range used during the Soviet era. Then, we cross over the Çoruh (Chorokhi) River, which originates from Bayburt and is not unfamiliar to us, and make our first entry into the city center. Along the road, we enter the boulevard road, noticing Batumi Airport with the signature of Turkish contractors and its architecture resembling a princess's skirt. On the boulevard road, we notice investments made in tourism on our left side, and sequentially, we see Collosseum Hotel, Senate Restaurant (upside-down house), and continue our route seeing the interesting upside-down milk bottle-shaped architecture of Batumi Courthouse on our right side. As we pass through the city center, we see the Dolphinarium, where dolphin shows are held, on our right side, and next to it, we see Nurigeli Lake, one of Batumi's two large artificial lakes, panoramically. Just ahead on the left side, we see Shota Rustaveli State University and its campus, named after the famous Georgian medieval poet. Approaching the city center, we panoramically see the house where the famous Russian writers Anton Chekhov and Maxim Gorky lived for 15 years, which is now serving as the Bern restaurant, before arriving at our restaurant for lunch.

After lunch, our first stop is the Batumi Valide Sultan Mosque, built in 1866 and featuring wooden interiors. Then, we visit Piazza Square, reminiscent of European city squares, and the St. Nicholas Church located in the square. In Europe Square, we see important symbols such as the statue of Georgian politician Memed Abashidze and the former central bank used as the Batumi astronomical clock.

Among the remarkable and modern works reflecting the city's modern texture are the Medea Statue completed in 2007, the Adjara Autonomous Republic Administration Building, and the Poseidon Statue. Throughout our tour, we listen to the city's tragic stories in Theater Square, visit interesting structures such as the specially designed wedding hall on Old Batumi Boulevard, and the Alphabetic Tower.

Experiencing the romantic atmosphere of the city, we see the historic lighthouse and the Ali and Nino statue in Miracle Park. Then, we provide free time by the seaside for tea, coffee, and shopping. After the free time, we settle into our hotel in Batumi, relieving ourselves of the excitement of this thrilling day.

We also see the statue of Georgian artist Shota Kavlashvili and the Rezo Gabriadze Puppet Theater. We discover traces of Georgian Orthodox tradition at the Anchiskhati Church of the Virgin Mary. Then, we experience the dynamic spirit of the city on Shardeni Bar Street. Next, we visit the area where the sulfur baths, a hidden secret in the historical depths of Tbilisi, are located. These baths, forming the old texture of the city, are silent witnesses to Georgia's long and complex history. Initially built in the Middle Ages, these magnificent structures have been shaped over time with various cultural touches and have become an integral part of the city's cultural identity today. Passing through the historic narrow streets above the sulfur baths, we reach the Jumah Mosque. While feeling the historical atmosphere of the mosque, we embark on a journey towards the tranquility of the city.
